I’m in the front ensemble.

The keyboards up front; there are keyboards and bongos and drums up front.

Have you been able to travel at all through that?

We went to Boca Raton, Florida this year. It was a long trip.

We got to go to the beach for like an hour and a half.

What’s your major?

Biology, pre-med.

What it your greatest passion in life?

Probably helping people in other areas of the world that aren’t privileged like we are here. I feel like America is really blessed in ways that we don’t even fully know when it comes to even simple things such as like, food, just having an abundance of everything and knowing that there are so many places in the world that really don’t have that. So that is what I would like to do with medicine is travel to those areas.

If you could give one piece of advice to a large group of people, what would it be?

Don’t agree with what the majority of our culture says is right.

Do you care to elaborate?

I feel like there is this whole movement now where if you disagree with someone, people claim that you hate them and that if you love someone, you have to agree with everything they say. So I would say that you can fully love someone, and care for people and not agree with what they are doing, if that makes sense.

What do you do for a living?

I’m retired. I am a navy veteran, I get my social security disability, I make good income, but I’m waiting on my pension to get that 100% from the VA. And then after that, if I get it, guess what I’m going to do then? I’m gonna travel around the country, I’m going to go to every state.

What is your greatest passion in life?

Going to movies. I just came from a movie; I go to two movies every week.

What’s your favorite movie?
Rocky, well I just saw a good one yesterday too.

What is your profession?
“Well I hope it is going to be dietetics. I’m a 54-year-old freshman. I went to college after high school, and had my own medical transcriptions business for 30 years, but it is almost obsolete now so I had to find another career.”

What made you decide to study dietetics?

“Because I developed cancer and it was due to obesity, I know that sounds strange but it really is, because your body produces hormones regardless when you’re fat, it does it within that fat. It produces a male hormone, well your body knows that it is not a male, so it converts that to estrogen, so I had an estrogen-fed tumor and it was all because I was overweight. I decided that I needed to go into something where I could help myself and other people.”

What was the happiest moment of your life?

“Probably when my parents got divorced, just because it was better for my mom. It’s kind of a negative thing, but she’s happier now. When she first told me, we were a staying at my aunt’s house, and she said, ‘well your dad and I are going to get a divorce.’ And I think she expected me to start crying, but I was just like, ‘YES!”
